Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. - Soren Kierkegaard

Well you do know they are taking a few pigs and genetically modifying them, so that they dont have the two genes that are rejected by humans, that will let us borrow their heart and other things, but also will lead to us being able to modify them further so that they produce other things, like blood or insulin, for us.

I think overall its very good, but I worry about things like these pigs getting released in the wild in some fashion, how would they react or survive? And what bad effects do they have. Then I also wonder when will it stop? Who is to say that they cant use the pigs to test out drugs, or even deadly virus's for the military.

Technology is growing so rapidly, that there isnt enough time to study and debate things, and figure out how society should deal with such things. We need to speed that process up in some fashion, or sometime there is going to be a disaster or catastrophe that will threaten all people on the planet.

Not to mention the overall ethical implications, when do we stop playing god? Or what rules are there that we should have. What is sacred and what isnt?
