Akamai is a company that does some pretty cool things. They have 13,000 servers around the globe serving content for various websites based on geography. They know that an aol user with a such and such IP has a quick path to the akamai server in California. So therefor any requests to the yahoo website serves all the images for that site to the user from the California server. Basically reducing internet traffic and delays, all while speeding up delivery of content. Newest features are able to take a project's war file (Java) and put it on those 13,000 servers for computing on the edge. Therefore a client such as myself, can just maintain a simple webserver running the program, while I get connection and garanteed uptimes for unlimited hits, and my webserver wouldnt go down. Again I think hallmark should definately invest in this type of thing at least for valentine's day.

Either way, I think this is pretty cool, for a content delivery system and they've sold me on the idea. Now if we can just reduce the cost so that small businesses would be able to take advantage of such features for their clients. My recommendation is to buy some of their stock and wait a year. AKAM on nasdaq.
